Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
i was waaaay too tired to mention anything about this the other night. we rolled in at 6am after driving to virginia (oops, missed the exit), having some (kinda odd) guy talk to us at a diner about his el camino, and my navigation system on my phone got cancelled between the start and end of the show. it was a different ride home, but i enjoyed it. experiences like this is what will give us stories to talk about years from now. i love road trips, and this one was proof why i love them so much. the concert itself was a lot of fun. i stood upstairs, one of the benefits of being 21 plus, to avoid the moshing crowd below. i like being able to watch and enjoy the band playing. i don’t like being distracted because i’m worrying about some bro’s foot flying towards my head because he wants to hardcore dance. i really enjoyed the second band that played that night. their name still escapes me. maybe i should look that up. i enjoyed them because they don’t sound generic. their sound was progressive hardcore, at least that’s what i’d call it. the best band i can compare them with is the fall of troy. august burns red put on an awesome show. they played a good mix of songs from all four albums. an older couple stood next to me the whole night. i talked to them a little bit between sets and ended up finding out it was jb brubaker’s (abr’s guitarist) parents. she couldn’t believe we drove four and a half hours for the show. it was definitely worth it! brian ended up with a signed drum head matt (abr drummer) tossed out to the crowd. slightly damaged, but still awesome. the only thing i was bummed about is they didn’t have leveler on vinyl. i guess i’ll just add that to my future vinyl purchase list
